Can school really be starting next week? Didn't summer just begin a couple of weeks ago? Where did it go? What happened to all the cool, fun things we were going to do? I must have blinked and somehow missed summer.
I'm whining today because I don't want my freedom and lazy days to be over so quickly. The boys are involved in lots of extracurricular activities to include sports (one will play soccer, the other will take swim lessons), Scouts and kids' choir at church. Combine all of that with homework and other school-related requirements and I'm tired just thinking about it! It's all good stuff, and of course I want my kids to be active and exposed to all kinds of wonderful things, but let's face it... our days are going to be scheduled and very busy. I HATE that! Sigh... Calgon, take me away!

Got Sweet Tea?
I confess that I have an addiction. I'm not addicted to drugs or alcohol or anything dangerous or illegal. My addiction is to sweet iced tea. There, I've said it... I can't help it, but I absolutely LOVE sweet iced tea! Always have, always will. I grew up drinking the stuff, and in our family, we like "a little tea with our sugar." Mind you, it's real sugar too, and nothing else will do. Oh, I'll drink sweet tea at someone else's house (to be polite, of course) or at a restaurant, and it might happen to be sweetened with something other than real sugar, but if I'm making the tea, you can bet I'll be using the real stuff.
I'm totally loving the fact that many restaurants, particularly fast-food joints, are now offering sweet iced tea. You can get a sweet tea fix from McDonald's, Taco Bell, Texas BBQ Factory, Captain D's and of course Chick-fil-A (They've served great sweet tea for a very long time now). There may be others I'm just not aware of yet. If so, please enlighten me because I like to know where I can get a good sweet iced tea when I'm out and about.
Many say that sweet iced tea is a southern thing, and I suppose it is, although I think I like my tea even sweeter than most southerners. My kids love it too. So are we all going to become diabetics or have rotten, yellow-stained teeth? I certainly hope not, but some things are just worth the risk, aren't they? If it ain't sweet tea, it's just dirty water.

What exactly is a "blog" anyway?
Who came up with the term "blog" and what exactly does it mean? Is it listed in the dictionary? It's certainly not listed in my 1980 New College Edition American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, but perhaps I need to look in a more updated dictionary, huh? I can't really define "blog," and yet I know what it means. I hate having to explain things to my kids when I don't know how. Ever have that problem?
Anyway... I digress, which I tend to do a LOT.
I've decided it would be fun to have my own blog since I've read so many others that I thought were incredibly creative and fun. I'm not promising mine will fit into either category, but I'm gonna give this a whirl. I'm thinking it'll be a worthwhile way to spend my spare time, when I have spare time, and it's cheaper than therapy, right?
Until later...
